Alt-J was formed in 2007 at Leeds University, the band consists of guitar, bass guitar, vocals, keyboard and Drums. They have a very unique sound which has seen them achieve international success. The thing I find most interesting about the band is the way they chose their name. The name came about from the Greek uppercase letter delta (∆) which can be typed on Apple computers by holding down Alt and pressing the J key hence “Alt-J”. The band was formerly known as Daljit Dhaliwal.

With Almost 18 million views ‘Breezeblocks’ is Alt-J’s most viewed song on Youtube.

Their next most viewed song on Youtube is ‘Matilda’ and has had over 3.5 million views.

3.6 Million views sees ‘Something Good’ the third most popular song of Alt-J on youtube.
