I’ve never been a massive fan of instant camera’s I love the photos they make but the small plastic square ones just don’t really do anything for me. However I have found a instant camera that I have fallen in love with.
Fujifilm Instax Mini 70 Camera they’re fun, quirky sturdy and a massive step up from the Fujifilm Instax Mini 25 Instant camera. They come in three colours blue, yellow and silver. The colours are fun and bold but it is a camera it doesn’t look like a toy. It feels more sturdy than the plastic of the Fujifilm Instax Mini 25 Instant camera. You’re looking at $125 (NZ) for the Fujifilm Instax Mini 25 Instant camera and $229 (NZ) for the Fujifilm Instax Mini 70 Camera which is a significant price increase but I do think that it is money well spent. If you think you’ll be using the camera a lot and you want it to last I would definitely spend the money and buy something that is going to last.
If you’re a fan of selfies there is a small mirror by the lense which helps frame your photos and ensures you don’t accidentally crop anyone out (which is really annoying when you’re spending around $1 (NZ) per print).
One thing which could be frustrating is the flash unless you’ve got some great lighting going on where you’re taking your photos the flash automatically triggers. The flash and auto-exposure have been updated which balances the background with objects in the foreground. This being said the shutter speed slows down to expose in low light. You might notice some motion blur but a lot of the time it adds ambiance to your photos.
This model also has a self timer, high key mode (to brighten the image), a fill flash option, and a tripod mount. Heaps of awesome things going on!
