We live in a digital age which has it’s positives and negatives. I love the fact that we are all so connected and that we can so easily find information. The unfortunate side to living in a digital age is the fact that people have the opportunity to hide behind a keyboard and say what ever they want to with no consequence.

I believe that every human is equal black, white, straight or gay. Yes some people have more than others but we are all humans. We all deserve the right to feel loved. I know that a lot of people don’t, but every human should go to bed at night and feel safe. We should all have freedom of speech and the ability to voice our opinion without fear. The thing that is so dangerous about social media is the way people perceive what you are posting. You might say something and intend it to mean something but someone might interpret those words in another way.

I think it is important that people understand what is happening in the world around them. I think that it is important that we talk about equality issues, that we understand what is going on in other countries. I am worried that this generation is so caught up in Keeping Up With The Kardashians that we don’t understand the important issues going on in the world. Yeah it would be nice to drive a G Wagon but there are children who don’t have enough food. I am not saying it is the Kardashians fault I am not saying stop watching the show I am just saying that isn’t it concerning that we can hear so much about one lady caught up in an awful hostage situation but everyday these awful things are happening to everyday people like you or I and we don’t even hear about it. This has nothing to do with the Kardashians I don’t have anything against Kim I just feel the media force feed us with what they think we want to hear when there is so much more going on in the world. So much that we don’t even hear about. It is very recent and Kim will still be in shock but I am hoping that moving forward she will use this to create awareness of what is going on in the world. She could try and use her platform to help the innocent  people whose lives have been turned upside down by violence and war.

Last night I posted a tweet on twitter “I feel for Kim Kardashian but can we take a moment to think about all the innocent people who lose their lives everyday.” I didn’t mean any harm by the tweet I was more annoyed that the media blew this out of the water when there is so much worse going on in the world. I understand reading the tweet now that it might appear to disregard Kim and how scary it would be for her but knowledge is power and I think we need to understand what is going on around us for things to change and for humanity to move forward together in peace.

A few people in particular were very strong in voicing their opinion to me last night and I get it they’re entitled to their opinion but attacking a person for having an opinion doesn’t make your opinion any better. No person’s opinion is better than anyone else’s we’re all brought up in different ways, have different experiences and understanding of what is going on in the world. I guess what I am trying to say is don’t be afraid of having an opinion. Don’t be afraid of voicing your opinion. Yes not everyone will agree with you 100% of the time but at least you’re voicing what you believe to be the truth. Last night I couldn’t be bothered dealing with the drama so I deleted all of the tweets in the future I won’t be doing that. I am entitled to my opinion just as these people are entitled to judge my opinion. Don’t ever apologise for having an opinion. If you are wrong feel free to admit it but back yourself up. Walk with confidence and know that people can misconstrue your words. If you post something and a lot of people disagree with it the best thing you can do is not reply. Some people just look for a fight on twitter if you don’t give them a response then they’ve got no fuel for the fire.

Yes before you ask I will be taking a leaf out of my own book. Life is a journey. I am in no way perfect I will be the first to admit it. I am still learning everyday and will continue learning for as long as I live. I am here to get the most I possibly can out of life. If there is three things you take away from this post I want you to remember.

  1. Not everyone will agree with you all the time.
  2. You shouldn’t ever be afraid to admit you’re wrong.
  3. Your opinion matters.

This week I am challenging myself to care more about what is going on in the world and worry less about which shows I am going to watch on TV.

Have a great week.

All The Love.
