Healthy Body, Healthy Mind.

Do you ever feel overwhelmed by the world around you. Does it make you feel uncomfortable that you haven’t yet achieved the things you want to achieve. I think back to when I was in high school and think about what I wanted to achieve by the time I was 25. Sure there are a lot of things I have done that I never imagined I would have but there are also a lot of things which I had planned to achieve by now which I haven’t. While some days I am proud of the things I have achieved there are some days where I can’t help feeling like I am not really going anywhere.

I have spent a lot of time recently trying to work out where I have gone wrong and how I can feel more positive and the conclusion that I have come to is that life is going to happen and there’s no way to stop it. Sometimes we need to take time to ourselves and enjoy our own company. Sometimes we need the company of another being and sometimes we just need to be productive so we don’t feel like our life is wasting away.

It’s the little things that make all the difference like going to the gym, changing your sheets or even cleaning your bedroom that will make you feel good. It’s nice to feel like you are in control of your life. There are some things we have no control over and eventually we learn to let go of those things. If there is something you’re trying to let go of I want you to try and do these things.

  1. Each Day Do Something For Yourself: This quite literally could be anything it might be going for a walk at lunchtime just to get out of the office, watching your favourite tv show or even spending 30 minutes reading before you go to bed. The most important thing we can do is take time out of our busy lives for ourselves.
  2. Clean Your Room: Waking up to a room that is clutter free will set you up for a positive day. From the moment you open your eyes you will feel like you’re ready to tackle what ever challenges life throws your way.
  3. Exercise Frequently:  There is a lot to be said for a good session in the gym or even just going for a run. You might only exercise for 30 minutes but that is enough release some endorphin’s, relieve stress and make you feel better about yourself.
  4. Eat Healthy: Eating healthy takes some organisation but it is so worth it. Treat your body to substantial food to keep it going healthy and strong. I’m not saying you need to eat like a rabbit but cut the take out and eat some fresh greens and meat.

If you’ve been in a funk lately the good news is summer is just around the corner and it’s time to start enjoying life. We’ve only got one opportunity so make the most of every minute. That doesn’t mean you should put up a facade and pretend you’re happy. Deal with your emotions, if you need to cry, cry. Let it out. Deal with every once of emotion you’ve got. Use your emotion to fuel your future and the projects that you’ve got coming up. Be patient, be graceful and know it isn’t selfish to do something for yourself every once in a while.
