The pursuit of happiness is one that we are all experiencing. Isn’t that the overall goal in life? The feeling of joy or happiness makes life worthwhile. We work 9-5 Monday-Friday to experience happiness and joy on Saturday and Sunday. I guess life is about finding things that make you happy and trying to fit them into your life. Hobbies, pets, travel, food, experiences all things that can make you happy. Work doesn’t usually bring copious amounts of fun however if you can find a job that you love maybe you can find happiness in you career as well. Long story short life is one big pursuit of happiness.
Like everything in life happiness comes and goes. We have to experience the lows to appreciate the highs but what do you do when you find yourself in a rut. To be honest with you I think when you find yourself in a rut the most important thing to do is have a change of scenery. If you can spend a few weeks out of your routine, just enjoying yourself you will come back feeling refreshed and hopefully with some new inspiration for life. Not everybody can just get up and go at the drop of a hat which leads me to option 2. Make sure you are exercising everyday it’s important to spend time outside everyday if you’ve got a gym membership that is awesome use it but make sure you try and spend some time outside each day as well. It is amazing how a bit of exercise can enhance your mood add some vitamin d from the sun and you’re just a moment away from an ear to ear grin.
The next thing I think could possibly help with your pursuit of happiness is your mind frame. If you are in a bad headspace you’re probably going to think negative thoughts. Negative thoughts aren’t ever going to help bring happiness to your life. Rather than focusing on the negative aspects think about the positives. Find 3 things each day that you are thankful for. Have something in life that you are looking forward to whether it be a holiday, a movie you’re going to see or a song that you enjoy listening to. it doesn’t have to be extravagant in fact sometimes the simple things are the most rewarding. The way you think about things is going to set you up for success or failure depending how you are thinking. Of course there are some aspects of life that you won’t enjoy. Unfortunately that is a part of life we all have to do some things that we don’t enjoy as much as others but try not to dwell on these things. Do them first and get them done so you have more time to enjoy the other more enjoyable aspects of what you are doing. Try to apply a positive attitude to everything that you do. It isn’t always easy but if you can master the art you’re an asset to any team.
This isn’t life’s guide to happiness or anything like that but I hope these random thoughts help with what ever situation you are experiencing. Life can be daunting at times. Always remember it’s never as bad as you think it is. You’re doing a lot better than you give yourself credit for. Keep up the good work and don’t forget the weekend is only a couple of days away.
