There is something about California dreaming that is so appealing. The song itself is about falling in love and not being able to provide for that loved one which accentuates the dark mysterious tones of the song. Falling in love but loosing that person as the direct consequence of not having money is shallow but in today’s society where most people are more concerned about getting ahead than having a meaningful relationship the California dream of driving the freeway in a convertible doesn’t seem so appealing anymore. Get lost in the shadows and just because you’re willing to make sacrifices and put your heart on the line doesn’t mean other people are willing to do the same.
