“Into The Wild” – Lewis Watson

Lewis Watson is another Youtube sensation, not as well known as the likes of Justin Bieber but just as talented in his own way. Lewis like most youtube discovered artists began very low key creating a youtube account called HolyLoowis to avoid the attention of his friends. His first ever youtube cover was uploaded in 2010 and was a covery of Bombay Bicycle Club’s Swansea. He had such a positive reaction to his cover he continued to cover City and Colour, Ben Howard and Bon Iver before the requests for an original song came flockin in. At the time Lewis had been writing some original material but wasn’t too confident to share it with his youtube subscribers. In September 2010 he decided it was time and finally uploaded his original song ‘Sides’. The response to the song was incredible and from there on he continued to upload original material.

Since his first upload Lewis has been signed to Warner Bro. Music and in recent months Recent months he’s been working with a huge number of collaborating songwriters and producers including Mike Crossey (Arctic Monkeys), Richard Wilkinson (Kaiser Chiefs), Iain Archer (Jake Bugg), Kid Harpoon (Florence + The Machine) and Mr Hudson.

Lewis’s collaborations included a trip to Australia where in between sessions he played a number of free guerrilla gigs which were announced just hours before on Twitter. Some of the gigs attracted over a hundred people, at such short notice this was understandably exciting for him. His largest gig was supporting Birdy at Shepherd’s Bush Empire and is now embarking on a headline tour which is already sold-out and just to top things off his next EP ‘Another four Sad Songs’ is set for release in October.

Keep an eye out for Lewis Watson if you haven’t already seen him you almost definitely will be in the near future.
