In my personal opinion music is the best thing in the world. 2017 was an incredible year for music and I feel like 2018 will be even better. Already we are expecting new music from Troye Sivan, Noah Cyrus and fingers crossed Shawn Mendes and Selena Gomez also bless us with new music. Without doubt there will be plenty of surprises in between as well. To celebrate the year that was 2017 music I’ve compiled my personal top 10 favourite videos from the year.
10. Beautiful Trauma – P!nk
It’s pastel it’s rebellious and it features Channing Tatum. Really what more could you want from a P!nk music video?
9. Paris – The Chain Smokers
The Chainsmokers continued their winning streak in 2017 with a leap of faith, and houses that literally flew.
8. DNA – BTS
They quite literally achieved global domination in 2017. While their domination didn’t happen overnight nor did their choreography skills. This video is a perfect demonstration of their talent.
7. Bad Liar – Selena Gomez
It wasn’t the video anyone was expecting and maybe that why I fell in love with it. The video sees Selena Gomez playing multiple roles. It’s wacky, it’s weird and it’s a great watch.
6. Humble – Kendrick Lamar
When has Kendrick not delieved in terms of a visual. While technically the video isn’t astounding the visual definitely adds a deeper meaning to the record.
5. Boys – Charli XCX
This video is completely genius. She single handed has removed the need for imagination. You no longer need to wonder what Joe Jonas looks like eating pancakes. Diplo juggling puppies is something dreams are made of and thats before you acknowledge Cameron Dallas, Charlie Puth and Joe Sugg being in the video. This is one you really just have to watch for yourself.
4. Praying – Kesha
Kesha is bravery personified. She has been through so much and come out the other side so much stronger. For anybody who has ever experienced pain take a moment and experience the feeling of healing. From black and white to technicolour trust Kesha to take you on the journey.
3. Heaven – Troye Sivan Ft Betty Who
The perfect combination of Troye Sivan and LGBTQ+ pride and rebellion. The fact that it was released the day Donald Trump assumed office only made the release more powerful.
2. Sign Of The Times – Harry Styles
Harry Styles is flying. That is all.
1. New Rules – Dua Lipa
This song is pure genius which is the reason I am not surprised the video is a slice of genius itself. Nobody was prepared for the viral success of this one. Chances are you’ve seen the memes. If you’ve been through a break up, tried to avoid an ex or ever thought about rekindling that romance you’ll think agin after watching this banger of a video.
